Well, I think this is a better JPB beat. I liked it. Trying to be objective, I think that it's probably what people are into right now. Vs smooth. Makes me think of a great song I really love. Captain of the heart. I might go and listen to that now, actually. I listen again to JPBS and I like it. I would say it has a more background sound. Where as Vs smooths bass melody hits right away.

wait, are you referring to captain of her heart by Double? that song doesn't sound like his cuz that's not rnb, that's pop, although it does give insight to what influences your sound. but V's joint is soulful, like early 90's rnb bro, a la Anita Baker, Mint Condition or Tevin Campbell honestly. I think that's something you need to understand is that there's a difference between pop and rnb.. Captain of Her Heart is slow tempo but that don't make it rnb lol. not trying to start nothing with you, just trying to educate. you can tell V is HEAVILY inspired by 80s and early 90s rnb, not pop. and like you said, my sound is more inspired by today's rnb. but if you are gonna make rnb, you should try listening to actual rnb yourself

Yes its a different genre. But the chords and melody, the honky tonk piano etc, made me think of that. It might not even sound similar to most people. It just had similar vibe. I know those keyboard sound because I have heard them, but a long time ago. And what I like is, I don't like over the top of very strong sounding stuff. I like it to have a bit of flavor, but not too much. I like something to be a really good tune first, and then have some elements of the style. I don't like it when something is 100% stylized but the tune is missing.

Ok fellas you got me! Yes my style of r&b has been inspired more from the late 80's, 90's and early 2000's sound because I feel that's when it was at it's most purest form. These days artists (rappers/singers) are just actually going back and getting those old soulful samples and just adding the modern trap type drums on top of them. Note that most r&b consist of warm chords and basslines with a nice lead added. So basically what I'm saying is if you were to extract the drums from most r&b/hip hop songs you would hear the soulful r&b sounds. They sometimes may just substitute pianos for pads are galactic sounds, but either way it's still r&b. Just my opinion.

all good bruh, you taking them back to the classic soulful sound that rnb used to be... yet it never sounds dated somehow. it's kinda genius honestly
