This started for me 2 days ago. If I vote and comment on a battle, I receive notifications if someone else also comments on that same battle after me. Really annoying. Anybody else having this issue?
I don't want to turn off notifications in their entirety as I like getting notified if somebody replies to a comment I made or makes a comment on my own battles. I just started receiving notifications if somebody comments on a battle I commented on which was NOT in reply to my comment. This did not happen previously. I take it this is not happening to you?
You can turn that off. It will not stop other notifications. This was just added few days ago to keep updates on conversations. Go in your settings and turn it off. You will still get notices if your comment is replied to.

yea it is but I just ignore it if its someone Im not cool with or following
