It's like they say in the video, its not about the technology, its about the taste of the person making it.
Also people are highly visual, and think that things that look good sound better.
It's all the same stuff, everyone has the same tools and capabilities, it's just that, no one knows how to use as well, as they did in the old days.

MPC 3000 vs MPC 4000...
They sound the same. The 4000 has tiny bit more bass, but that might just be the cables or the mixer channel.
