Growing up I used to write profusely. I used to write a lot of rhythm and poetry inside any one of these 40? or so-filled handwritten notebooks, with an additional thousand oddly loose typed writings when I wrote exclusively on my WWII typewriter for a long good period. That was followed by a few more ink-spotted shreds that survived, making it out of my dammed 1970s electronic typewriter I had to switch to that buzzed louder than a fish tank.

Today I write even more than I did then - but now I have finally given into the times and adopted using a computer.  It's way better, well… obviously. Much quieter. I mean come on.  It's gotta be close to 10X faster and with auto spell correction. And now Grammarly? fuck. It's a no-brainer for anybody3.  I can get A LOT more done & a lot less done at the same time.

Anyway, a lot of my old writings  - if they weren't adapted into songs -  went straight into a cardboard box under my bed. And that's where they sat for the past 10 years give or take. Some of it is painful to read, some of it was clever, but most of all it is observational, opinionated, full of anger & jealousy & heartbreak, an expose' of a lost adolescent boy trying to find his way...  But when added all together it sounds like a giant failure in attempt to be like my idols growing up - Whitman, Dylan, Thompson, Steinbeck, Kerouac... ya know, the usual stuff.

Prolific writers amaze me. Probably even more so now. The ability to harness all the complexities of this world and filter it down into bite-sized words everyone can swallow... it's an astonishing gift I always wish that I could have.

I had a friend ask me if I ever plan on publishing these writings. The answer to that, after skimming through them briefly, is no. No way. A lot of is nonsense and not even good enough for a reader to waste their time with.  Who knows, I definitely could publish multiple poetry books, but a cohesive piece of literature that I feel is important that people read? No. That day has not come yet.

I am much more confident in my abilities - being able to tackle a complex story and stay on topic is something I know Ive gotten a lot better at. It takes time and commitment even after I find the perfect story that I want to tell. That is my life goal and I hope it will be soon.
